This video shows an example of a coach-initiated coaching conversation and completes the “story” of Drew—his frustration and desire to find a resolution to his perception of Jim’s work. At first Drew focused on Jim’s behavior and had been ready to terminate him, but through Lori’s coaching, Drew now has a new perspective (including owning his own role in the problem). The purpose of this video is to model an entire FUEL coaching conversation as Drew now has a coaching conversation with Jim. By following the FUEL Framework during this coaching conversation, Drew uncovers new information that leads to a positive outcome. As you watch this video, we encourage you to identify each step of the FUEL Framework as Jim is modelling it. Remember, while the video aims to give a positive example, the FUEL Framework encourages flexibility rather than “perfect modeling.”
